NEW DELHI: In the ICC World Cup match against Bangladesh in Kolkata on Tuesday, Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi reached the milestone of 100th wicket in one day internationals.
The 23-year-old dismissed Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan with the fifth delivery of his first over, sending him back to the pavilion without scoring a run to take his 100th wicket in his 51st ODI appearance.
Shaheen now joins the elite club of Pakistani bowlers who have taken 100 or more wickets in ODIs, becoming the 21st member of this prestigious group. Fast bowling legend Wasim Akram holds the record with 502 wickets in 356 matches.
Shaheen made his ODI debut during the Asia Cup in 2018 against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. Since then, he has consistently excelled as one of the premier fast bowlers across all formats of the game.
Shaheen’s career figures in Test matches read 105 wickets in 27 Tests, while in T20Is he has taken 64 wickets in 52 matches.
