During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Rachin Ravindra, a batter from New Zealand, continued his impressive run of form by scoring another century. On November 4, in Bengaluru, Ravindra achieved his third century of the quadrennial event against Pakistan. He is the only batsman from New Zealand to score three hundred in an ODI World Cup.

Along with Devon Conway, Ravindra opened the batting and amassed 108 runs in just 94 balls before being removed in the 36th over of the innings by Mohammad Wasim. With eight innings remaining in the World Cup, Ravindra has amassed 523 runs, which is third most for New Zealand in a single edition.

In his last eight innings, Ravindra has amassed three hundreds and two fifties, demonstrating his peak form. Only at the beginning of the tournament, when Kane Williamson was sidelined due to injury, was he included in the playing XI and made an immediate impression. In the World Cup 2023 opening match, the batter crushed his first century against England, scoring 123.

Wellington made Rachin a contract offer in June 2020, ahead of the domestic cricket season of 2020–21. He was included in the New Zealand A cricket team’s November practice lineup to play the visiting West Indies team. He amassed 112 runs to score a century in the first practice match.

Rachin was selected for the New Zealand Test team in April 2021 for both the 2019–20 ICC World Test Championship final and their series against England. He was included in the Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) squads for New Zealand’s August tours of Bangladesh and Pakistan, respectively. Against Bangladesh on September 1st of that year, Rachin Ravindra made his T20I debut.

The 2023 World Cup roster for New Zealand includes Rachin Ravindra. With 123* runs off just 96 balls in the first World Cup match against England, batting at number three, he became just the fourth player from New Zealand to score a century on his debut. At 82 balls, this century was also the quickest by any New Zealand player in World Cup history.

He also recorded the fourth-highest partnership in World Cup history with Devon Conway, which enabled his team to defeat the reigning champions. Rachin Ravindra became the second-youngest hitter in the history of the ODI World Cup to reach 500 runs on November 4, 2023, after Sachin Tendulkar.
