‘Seems you were bowled by Virat Kohli’: Michael Vaughan trolls Mohammed Hafeez over indirect jibe | Cricket News – Times of India

During England’s match against Netherlands at the ongoing ICC World Cup on Wednesday, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammed Hafeez indirectly criticized India’s star batter Virat Kohli. However, former England captain Michael Vaughan came to Kohli’s defence with a humorous response.
Ben Stokes played a crucial innings, scoring 108 runs off 84 balls, setting the tone for the game and helping England secure their second victory in the tournament after putting up 339 runs on the board.Hafeez commended Stokes for his exceptional performance under pressure but also took an dig at Kohli, indirectly referring to the latter’s century against South Africa in Kolkata as a “selfish approach.”Hafeez posted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), “Saviour of the ship @benstokes38 Good 100 under pressure anchoring the innings where required with aggressive intent to get Maximum runs for the team to win at the end. Sheer example to differentiate Selfish vs Selfless approach.”

In response to Hafeez’s remarks, Vaughan stated that the former Pakistan batter’s repeated jibes at Kohli stem from the fact that Kohli dismissed him during a match between India and Pakistan in 2012.
“Seems to me @MHafeez22 you were bowled by @imVkohli!!! Is this the reason you constantly have a pop at him,” Vaughan wrote on X.

Vaughan later posted again on ‘X’ with the video of the delivery with which Kohli cleaned up Hafeez.
“Morning @MHafeez22.. Have a great day,” he wrote.

On his 35th birthday, Virat delivered a remarkable performance against South Africa, making history by scoring his 49th ODI century. This achievement equals Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI centuries.
Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul contributed to India’s dominant victory at the Eden Gardens, where they defeated South Africa by a staggering 243 runs.
The victory extended India’s unbeaten streak in the tournament, marking their eighth consecutive victory. The ‘Men in Blue’ will face the Netherlands in their final group-stage game on Sunday.
